Why Discord asks for a phone number

Discord uses phone verification mainly to fight spam and raid bots - accounts with a verified number get higher message and DM rate limits, can join more servers, and are trusted by moderators enforcing phone-verified-only rules. None of that requires the number to be your personal line; Discord just needs a number capable of receiving one SMS code.

What kind of number works

Steps

1. Buy a Discord verification - a fresh US number appears on your order page instantly.
2. In Discord, go to User Settings → Account → Phone Number and enter it.
3. The code lands on your order page automatically, usually within 30 seconds.
4. Enter the code in Discord - verification is complete, your real number stays private.
